  • Experience- Previous work-related skill, knowledge, or experience is required for these occupations.   • Implement airfield safety procedures to ensure a safe operating environment for personnel and aircraft operation.
  • Plan and coordinate airfield construction.
  • Coordinate with agencies such as air traffic control, civil engineers, and command posts to ensure support of airfield management activities.

  • A high school education is desirable for this occupation. Some long term on-the-job training may be provided by airport personnel. Military job training consists of between 7 and 14 weeks of classroom instruction. Training length varies depending on specialty. Course content typically includes introduction to aviation operations; procedures for scheduling aircraft and assigning air crews; flight planning and airfield operations; and preparing flight operations reports and records. Further training occurs on the job and through advanced courses.
